「できるだけ…」や「お好きなだけ」などのように、AS…AS構文は、日常よく使われます。
AS…AS POSSIBLE
「できるだけ」を表す、AS…AS POSSIBLE 。書き換え問題も良く出ます。
We are willing to help you as far as possible.
= We are willing to help you as far as we can.
I have done as much as possible.
= I have done as much as I can.
= I have done my best.
AS…AS YOU LIKE
「お好きなだけ」を表す、AS…AS YOU LIKE 。as you wish との置き換えられます。
Please take those oranges as many as you like.
= Please take those oranges as many as you wish.
AS WELL AS
AS WELL ASには、「同様に上手く」という意味と、「AおよびB」「Aに加えてBも」という意味があります。
He can speak French as well as English. 「同様に上手く」
I've been to New York as well as Paris. 「AおよびB」
「〜に加えて」という意味では、AS WELL AS は文頭に来る事もあります。
As well as New York, I've been to Paris, Frankfurt, Vienna, Seoul, and Bangkok.
AS GOOD AS
AS GOOD ASには、「同様に良く」という意味の他に、「〜も同然・〜と同様」という意味で使われる事があります。
The job is as good as finished.
= This job is almost finished.
This car is as good as new.
This car is practically new.
